Transition Update and Little Bits from my Heart

A follower of this ministry recently asked how things were going in the transition of our move back to the States so I would like to update all our readers as well.

Wilson traveled to South Carolina last Wednesday to get things ready for our move. We had a vehicle that we had planned to bring to Mexico to for use in ministry but somehow it never made it. The vehicle needed some work so he’s been fixing it. He’s looking for temporary work to help with the costs of moving back, and also doing legal errands, taxes and all that fun stuff :)

I’ve tried not to be too technical on money issues in this site because like Paul (I know what it is to be in need and what it is to have more than enough. Php 4:12) we have had to learn to be content. I feel today though to share some insights out of great joy because God is faithful.

When we decided to move to Mexico we sold almost everything we had and gathered as much money as possible to sustain us here. We came May 09 and unexpectedly we both needed to travel back in July. Almost half of the money raised was used there. We came back to Mexico and still had a little more of our savings. We traveled frequently to the mountains and anywhere we were invited to preach and for the most part we covered our own expense.

Very seldom did churches raise an offering for us. I must say though some would give us fruits from their crops and blessed us with hospitality. God is good! Very few churches although small in size but had big hearts and did bless us with an offering that sometimes would cover our groceries for the week or pay a tank of gas, again God is good!

Our personal savings ran out and we solely relied on offerings sent directly to the ministry. A couple of times we had very little food and would visit a friend’s house so we could share bread and coffee or tea in the evenings, no doubt the fellowship also helped build a strong relationship. God is good. Tears are coming as I type this but I’m not sad nor do I lament, to the contrary, God is faithful! I’ve just experienced this in another way in life. I didn’t go hungry. I never felt pain. My God is so good. Let everyone know!

So, why am I saying all this? I heard this past weekend from Pastor Bremer (Pastor of ‘Abundant Life’ Mexico): “I’m not paid to do this (ministry), I’m paying so I can do this!” Those words spoke so vividly to me. We’ve literally have given not just our ‘life’ but our belongings, our time, our effort and dedication to the gospel. Some have shown their encouragement via emails, facebook, comments, etc. and I’m so thankful of all your kind words, I feel so loved by His body. You know what though? The more I give my life and everything in it the more humble my heart remains because its closer to the realization that I will never out-give God, he gave his best, his only begotten! Oh my friends, how wonderful and privileged we are to serve him, to live for him, and to die for him!

We love you and are so thankful to God for adopting us into His family. Thank you so much for your prayers.

Una Actualización de la transición y Trocitos del Corazón

Un seguidor de este ministerio preguntó recientemente cómo cosas estaban en la transición de nuestra mudanza a los Estados y yo querría actualizar todos nuestros lectores también.

Wilson viajó a Carolina del Sur el miércoles pasado para preparar todo para nuestra mudanza. Tuvimos un vehículo que habíamos planeado traer a México para el uso en el ministerio pero de algún modo nunca se hizo. El vehículo necesitaba algún trabajo asi que el lo ha estado arreglando. Tambien a buscado trabajo temporáneo para ayudar con los costos de movernos, y también haciendo vueltas legales, los impuestos y todo eso tan divertido;)

He tratado de no ser demasiado técnico en asuntos de dinero en este sitio porque como Pablo (Sé lo que es vivir en la pobreza, y también lo que es vivir en la abundancia. Fil. 4:12 ) hemos tenido que aprender a estar contentos. Hoy siento compartir algunas vivencias de gran gozo porque Dios es fiel.

Cuando decidimos mover a México nosotros vendimos casi todo lo que tuvimos y reunimos tanto dinero como posible sostenernos aquí. Vinimos en mayo 09 y inesperadamente nosotros tuvimos que viajar en julio. Casi mitad del dinero levantado fue utilizado allí. Regresamos a México y todavía tuvimos un poco más de nuestros ahorros. Viajamos con frecuencia a las montañas y dondequiera nosotros fuimos invitados a predicar y en la mayor parte nosotros cubrimos nuestro propio gasto.

Muy rara vez hizo las iglesias levantan una ofrenda para nosotros. Debo decir que algunos nos daban frutos de sus cosechas y nos bendecían con hospitalidad. ¡Dios es bueno! ¡Muy pocas iglesias aunque pequeñas en tamaño pero con grandes corazones nos bendijeron con una ofrenda que cubriría a veces nuestros gastos de comida para la semana o pagaría un tanque de gas, otra vez Dios es bueno!

Nuestros ahorros personales se acabaron y dependimos únicamente de ofrendas enviadas directamente al ministerio. Un par de veces nosotros tuvimos muy poco alimento y visitábamos la casa de unos amigos compartir pan y café o té en las tardes, sin duda la confraternidad también ayudó a construir una relación fuerte. Dios es bueno. ¡Las lágrimas vienen cuando escribo esto pero no estoy triste ni lo hago lamentando, al contrario, Dios es fiel! He experimentado esto en otra manera en la vida. Yo no pasé hambre. Yo nunca sentí dolor. Mi Dios es tan bueno. ¡Que todos lo sepan!

¿Así, por qué digo yo todo esto? Oí esto fin de semana pasado del Pastor Bremer (Pastor de "Vida Abundante") : ¡"Yo no soy pagado por hacer esto (el ministerio), pago para hacerlo"! Esas palabras hablaron tan realmente a mí. Hemos dado literalmente no solo nuestra "vida" pero nuestras pertenencias, nuestro tiempo, nuestro esfuerzo y dedicación al evangelio. Algunos han mostrado su ánimo a través de correos electrónicos, facebook, comentarios, etc. y yo estoy tan agradecidos de todas sus palabras de apoyo, yo me siento tan amada por Su cuerpo. ¿Sabe que? ¡Entre más doy mi vida y todo en ello más humilde mi corazón permanece porque esta cerca a la realización de que nunca daré mas de lo que dio Dios, él dio lo mejor suyo, su unigénito! ¡Ah mis amigos, cuán maravilloso y privilegiados somos de servirle, de vivir para él, y de morir para él!

Nosotros le amamos y estamos tan agradecidos a Dios por adoptarnos a Su familia. Gracias por sus oraciones.

Fiesta Cristiana (Christian Party)

For a couple of months pastors and members from about 8 local churches have been preparing for an event that would loudly announce the gospel.

The event included 2 clowns, 4 music groups, 3 drama presentations, a full lights and sound effects team, vendors, and lots and lots of tamales!

During the event local and state government offices were represented and there was even a “civic act” (singing of the national hymn and respects to the flag).

Many people made financial contributions and offered their services so this event could take place. We would like to thank SFWC for the special offering sent in January. With the special offering we were also able to be a part of this event. I helped with the design of the poster and we also contributed towards the printing of the posters/flyers.

Many received the gift of salvation on Saturday and it’s a joy to be used to spread the seed of the gospel. That many may know Him, that He may be glorified!

Por un par de meses pastores y miembros de aproximadamente 8 iglesias locales han estado preparando para un evento que anunciaría fuertemente el evangelio.

¡El evento incluyó a 2 payasos, 4 grupos de música, 3 presentaciones de dramas, equipo de luces y sonido, vendedores, y gran cantidad y de muchos tamales!

Durante el evento oficinas de gobierno locales y estatales fueron representados y también hubo un "acto cívico" (cantaron el himno nacional y respeto a la bandera).

Muchas personas hicieron contribuciones financieras y ofrecieron sus servicios para que este evento pudiera suceder. Querríamos dar gracias SFWC por la ofrenda especial enviada en enero. Con la ofrenda especial también pudimos ser parte de este evento. Ayudé con el diseño de los posters y también contribuimos hacia la impresión de los posters y bolantes.

Muchos recibieron el regalo de la salvación el sábado y es de mucha alegría ser parte del esparcir de la semilla del evangelio. ¡Que muchos Lo pueden conocer, y que El pueda ser glorificado!

¡Cantemos alabanzas a nuestro Dios! ¡Celebremos día tras día sus victorias! ¡Anunciemos su grandeza y maravillas entre todas las naciones! ¡Grande y digno de alabanza es nuestro Dios, y más temible que todos los dioses! Psa 96:2-4 TLA

I wanted to come up with a fancy clever way of announcing this news to you. It’s BIG news! I thought about it and really wanted to express all the emotions that come with it. It can be overwhelming I tell ya! My heart pounds and the words don’t come out?! I just couldn’t find the right lingo.

Ok. Ok. I know. I’ve been stalling! LOL

Ok. Here it is:
We’re moving back home!

There. I said it. *phew* Yes, mixed emotions. Again!

I bet you want to know why we’re moving back? Maybe a little Q&A will help?

Where will you be moving?
The last place we call home. Sweet home South Carolina. If the Lord calls us to ministry, he will need to speak to us.

What will you do?
As of today we have not received word from the Lord on a ministry, so we both will need a job. We are praying and trusting God, help us pray if you can.

Where will you live?
We’re not sure. I know our friends in Summerville would be kind to us and let us stay in their homes but as far as permanent residence we are again waiting on God.

How do you know this is God’s will?
Legal stuff. We have no control over it.
Our original intention and plan was to be here 2 years. This plan was based on the permissible time we have to live outside the U.S. and that was our understanding at that time. We recently verified the allowed time again and we we’re advised its now one year tops.

The Lord has been faithful, and thanks to our friends and contributors from South Carolina and North Carolina we have been able to be full time missionaries in Mexico. That says a lot.

This is not the last post from Mexico so I won’t go into more. We have a couple of months more and we are diligently taking advantage of it every day! We also have the school project to finish. We are desperately seeking God’s favor and provision.

You know that I did not hold back anything that would be of help to you as I preached and taught in public and in your homes. To Jews and Gentiles alike I gave solemn warning that they should turn from their sins to God and believe in our Lord Jesus. And now, in obedience to the Holy Spirit I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there. Acts 20:20-22 GNB

Quise proponer una manera lista y extravagante de anunciar estas noticias a usted. ¡Es noticia GRANDE! Pensé acerca de ello y quise realmente expresar todas las emociones que vienen consigo. ¡Puede agobiarle a uno! ¡El corazón golpea y las palabras no salen? Yo no podría encontrar las palabras correctas.

Ok. Ok. Ya Sé. ¡He estado alargándolo! Jajaja

Ok. Aquí esta:
¡Nos Movemos a casa!

Ya. Yo lo dije. *uf* Sí, emociones mezcladas. ¡Otra vez!

¿Me imagino que quiere saber por qué nos regresamos? ¿Quizá un pequeño preguntas & respuestas ayudará?

¿Dónde estarán moviéndose?
El último lugar que llamamos casa. Carolina del Sur. Si el Señor nos llama al ministerio, él deberá hablar a nosotros.

¿Qué harán?
Hasta hoy nosotros no hemos recibido palabra del Señor a un ministerio, así que nosotros ambos necesitamos un trabajo. Oramos y confiamos en Dios, ayúdenos en oración si usted puede.

¿Dónde vivirán?
Nosotros no estamos seguros. Sé que nuestros amigos en Summerville serían amables y permitirían que nosotros permanecer en sus casas pero acerca de una residencia permanente de nuevo esperemos en Dios.

¿Cómo sabe usted que esto es la voluntad de Dios?
Cosas legales. Nosotros lo no podemos controlar.
Nuestra intención y el plan original era de estar aquí 2 años. Este plan fue basado en el tiempo permisible que tenemos que vivir fuera de EEUU y eso fue nuestro conocimiento en aquel entonces. Verificamos recientemente el tiempo permitido otra vez y nos aconsejaron ahora una máximo de año.

El Señor ha sido fiel, y gracias a nuestros amigos y contribuyentes de Carolina del Sur y Carolina del Norte hemos podido estar de misioneros a tiempo completo en México. Eso dice mucho.

No es lo último de México asi que ya no entraré en más. ¡Tenemos un par de meses más y tomamos diligentemente ventaja de ello cada día! También tenemos el proyecto de la escuela para terminar. Buscamos desesperadamente el favor de Dios y su provisión.

Bien saben cómo no rehuí declararles a ustedes nada que fuera útil, y de enseñarles públicamente y de casa en casa, testificando solemnemente, tanto a Judíos como a Griegos, del arrepentimiento para con Dios y de la fe en nuestro Señor Jesucristo. An update - Serving Locally

I think it’s time for a little update.

These past winter months have been a change to the fast pace summer behind us. We don’t travel much, maybe 1 or 2 times a month versus every weekend and even weekdays. We also have been in much needed prayer/fasting and in personal daily Bible study. This is the time for preparation and strengthening.

We need to fill up if we plan an outpour.

Sharing the love of Christ is our existence, so we are focused for now on the local level. We currently have 3 weekly Bible studies. We praise God for these opportunities. We have prayed/fasted and believed the Lord would move the local pastors and grip in their hearts the need, which we also saw, for a biblically sound church. God has done that and more giving us favor with these brothers and a church that is hungry for his Word.

The Jordan –
In the last few weeks Wilson has been teaching stewardship. Every week taking it a little deeper and using it beyond the ‘tithe and offering’ preaching, but as a tool and a testimony of our faithfulness to the Lord. This Monday was the last part to this series and my God did the Lord show up! Towards the end of the lesson Wilson paused, I thank the Lord he was obedient, he then started prayer. I followed to what the Spirit was giving me to say and confirming his Word. What a powerful time! God moved, breaking the yoke of pride and poverty among his people! Many shared testimony saying they felt God speak and the received a blessing. Next series…Family!

The Upper Room –
Wilson is also using the stewardship series for this congregation. There are people in this congregation who are generous and could potentially be contributors in the kingdom so it will be neat to see them aligned with his Word and full of fruits for his glory. I pray they see the blessings of being found faithful and with integrity. This will totally transform them individually and corporately.

Ladies Bible Study –
I have a certain preference with this group of course. Most of the parishioners in every congregation are women; a powerful way to impact the congregation is to minister to the women! Bible studies are done at my house; giving me flexibility and leadership over anyone who wants to come (this church or that church or no-church at all!). This is important for Tlaco because I can tell some women feel more righteous than others and some want to hide and feel ashamed. I’m prayfully choosing from counseling topics, Bible teachings, and worship/prayer times all to the goal of deepening their relationship with their Heavenly Father. Amen!

Let all we do and say be for His glory and his kingdom. Thank you all for your prayers, we’re are so blessed by His favor and power!

Pienso que es tiempo para algo mas reciente.

Estos meses de invierno pasados han sido un cambio del verano al ritmo rápido que quedo atrás. Ya no viajamos mucho, quizá 1 o 2 veces al mes versus cada fin de semana e incluso días de semana. También hemos estado en oración que tanto necesitamos, en ayuno, y en el estudio personal de la Biblia diariamente. Este es el tiempo para la preparación y el reesfuerzo.

Debemos llenarnos si planeamos un derramar.

Compartiendo el amor de Cristo es nuestra existencia, así que estamos enfocados por ahora en el nivel local. Tenemos actualmente 3 estudios semanales bíblicos. Alabamos a Dios por estas oportunidades. Hemos orado y ayunado y creemos que el Señor movería a los pastores locales y pusiera en los corazones la necesidad, que nosotros también vimos, por una iglesia bíblicamente sana. Dios ha hecho eso y más dándonos favor con estos hermanos y una iglesia que tiene hambre por su Palabra.

El Jordán –
En las últimas semanas Wilson ha estado enseñando mayordomía. Cada semana tomándolo un poco más profundo y lo utilizando más allá de la predica del 'diezmo y ofrenda', como un instrumento y un testimonio de nuestra fidelidad al Señor. ¡Este el lunes fue la última parte de esta serie y el Señor se manifestó! Hacia el fin de la lección Wilson se detuvo, doy gracias al Señor que él fue obediente, él entonces comenzó a orar. Seguí a lo que el Espíritu me daba a decir y confirmar su Palabra. ¡Qué tiempo poderoso! ¡Dios se movió, rompiendo el yugo del orgullo y la pobreza entre su pueblo! Muchos compartieron testimonio que ellos sentían a Dios hablar y recibieron una bendición. ¡Próxima serie…la Familia!

El Aposento Alto –
Wilson también esta utilizando la serie de mayordomía para esta congregación. Hay personas en esta congregación que son generosas y podrían ser potencialmente contribuyentes en el reino, será lindo verlos alineados con su Palabra y llenos de frutos para su gloria. Oro que ellos vean las bendiciones de ser encontrado fiel y con integridad. Esto totalmente los transformará individualmente y como congregación.

Estudio Bíblico de Damas
Tengo cierta preferencia con este grupo por supuesto. ¡La mayor parte de los feligreses en cada congregación son mujeres; una manera poderosa de impactar la congregación es de ministrar a las mujeres! Los estudios de Biblia son hechos en mi casa; dándome la flexibilidad y liderazgo sobre cualquiera que quiera venir (de esta iglesia o aquella iglesia o ningún iglesia!). Esto es importante para Tlaco porque puedo ver que algunas mujeres se sienten más justas que otras y algunas quieren ocultarse y sentirse apenadas. Estoy escogiendo con oración temas de conserjería, enseñanzas de la Biblia, y tiempos de adoración/oración todo con el objetivo de profundizar su relación con su Padre Celestial. ¡Amén!

Que todo lo que hacemos y decimos sea para Su gloria y su reino. ¡Gracias a todos por sus oraciones, somos tan bendecidos por su favor y poder!

Pero el Señor me dijo:«No digas: “Soy muy joven”, porque vas a ir adondequiera que yo te envíe, y vas a decir todo lo que yo te ordene. Veracruz 06

Every time I go to Veracruz I get this anxious feeling. I’m excited to see my brothers and sisters. I want to hug and see the smiles of the children. I look forward to be sitting with them have a conversation about how they are and how God is manifesting, even in the smallest way.

On my hike down the mountain my mind goes to prayer mode. As I walk I ask God for his protection and blessing. Short and unpronounced, prayers go to heaven:

Speak through me God
Let me see their need through your eyes
Speak to their hearts in an understandable loving way
Give me strength
Holy Spirit give us direction and discernment

During this trip, we we’re walking down the mountain when we hear GUNSHOTS. We passed by a brother’s house and I asked why the shots. He explained that there was a man, named Salvador, who did not like our visit. This man has also intimidated the brothers living there and has given much opposition to our school project.

We ask that everyone who follows this ministry PRAY for this in particular. We can expect to have resistance, either spiritually or physically. We also expect God to be glorified, that the whole town may know our intentions and the God we serve.

On our next trip we plan to meet with the municipal’s president to discuss our plans for the school. Although we don’t expect any disagreement with him, we do ask for you to be in prayers so that he comes along side with us and help us build the community of El Mirador. There are many more needs in this community and I believe the Lord can work in mysterious ways!

I want you to know, my friends, that the things that have happened to me have really helped the progress of the gospel. As a result, the whole palace guard and all the others here know that I am in prison because I am a servant of Christ. Philippians 1:12-13 GNB

Veracruz 06

Cada vez que voy a Veracruz que tengo este sentimiento ansioso. Estoy emocionada a ver mis hermanos y las hermanas. Quiero abrazarlos y ver las sonrisas de los niños. Me imagino estar sentada con y tener una conversación acerca de cómo ellos están y cómo Dios se manifiesta, aún en la más pequeña manera.

En mi caminata hacia abajo de la montaña mi mente va al modo de la oración. Asi caminando pido a Dios por su protección y la bendición. Brevemente y sin pronunciar, oraciones van al cielo:

Habla por mí Dios
Permite que vea su necesidad por tus ojos
Habla a los corazones de una manera amorosa e entendible
Dame fuerza
Espíritu Santo danos dirección y discernimiento

Durante este viaje, pasabamos por la montaña cuando oímos DISPAROS. Pasamos la casa de un hermano y yo pregunté por qué los disparos. El explicó que había un hombre, llamado Salvador, que no le gusta nuestra visita. Este hombre también ha intimidado a los hermanos que viven allí y ha dado mucha oposición a nuestro proyecto de la escuela.

Pedimos que todos los que siguen este ministerio OREN por esto en particular. Podemos esperar tener resistencia, sea espiritualmente o físicamente. Nosotros también esperamos que Dios sea glorificado, que el pueblo entero pueda conocer nuestras intenciones y al Dios que servimos.

En nuestro próximo viaje planeamos encontrarnos con el presidente municipal y hablar nuestros planes para la escuela. Aunque nosotros no esperemos ningún desacuerdo con él, pedimos que estén en oración para que él se una con nosotros y nos ayude a levantar la comunidad de El Mirador. ¡Hay muchas más necesidades en esta comunidad y yo creo que el Señor puede trabajar en maneras misteriosas!

Queridos hermanos, quiero que sepan que lo que me ha pasado, más bien me ha ayudado a anunciar la buena noticia. Todos los guardias del palacio, y el resto de la gente, saben que estoy preso por servir a Cristo. Filipenses 1:12-13 BLS

Ending this Year with a Bang!

December has been given us an awesome opportunity to minister the Word of God. As its customary here, churches have big parties in December. Every day there is a church that has their “Day of Thanks” fiesta.

It's our first Christmas in Mexico!

Back in the States our celebration usually involved church family since we didn't have relatives near so Mexico is no different. We invited a few families to the house.

First, a little background info
When religion is more important than family and forgiveness the consequences are apparent. There are about 10 families that although the gospel has been played over and over like a broken record, active faith and genuine love are weak in their foundation. Part of the families go to a church service on the 24th and don’t miss it for anything in the world. I went to that same church service last year and like most of the many churches here, it was just another program. The other families may realize the need for fellowship but don’t do anything about it.

With issues deeper than just spending time together, I see the need for God to confront each and everyone to forgiveness, love, and to be in one accord. Something happens when we come together in His name. Chains are broken. Hearts are melted. Minds are renewed. This time it was the occasion of Christmas but I hope for many more gatherings.

There were about 20 people plus kids at the house on the 24th. We listened to Christmas music all day. There was prayer and I read the story of Jesus’ birth. We ate dinner together and had a bonfire. We waited until 12 midnight and gave hugs to say “Merry Christmas”.

I pray this celebration showed the families in a tangible way:
We can be together in harmony
We can put aside our misunderstandings, judgments, and past quarrels
We can celebrate Jesus sincerely and openly without religious traditions
We can show our children that being a Christian is real and to apply it in everything we are!

You are the people of God; he loved you and chose you for his own. So then, you must clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Be tolerant with one another and forgive one another whenever any of you has a complaint against someone else. You must forgive one another just as the Lord has forgiven you. And to all these qualities add love, which binds all things together in perfect unity. Colossians 3:12-14 GNB

¡Es nuestra primera Navidad en México!

Cuando estábamos en los Estados nuestra celebración era con la familia de la iglesia ya que nosotros no teníamos parientes cerca aquí en México es no diferente. Invitamos unas familias a la casa.

Primero, información de fondo
Cuando la religión es más importante que la familia y el perdón las consecuencias son aparentes. Hay acerca de 10 familias que aunque el evangelio haya sido repetido una y otra vez similar un disco rayado, la fe activa y el verdadero amor son débiles en su fundamento. Una parte de las familias va a un servicio el 24 y no lo pierde por nada en el mundo. Fui a ese mismo servicio el año pasado y como la mayor parte de las muchas iglesias aquí, fue otro programa más. Las otras familias pueden darse cuenta de la necesidad para la confraternidad pero no hacen nada acerca de ello.

Con asuntos más profundos que pasar el tiempo juntos, yo veo la necesidad que Dios confronte a cada uno al perdón, el amor, y el estar en un acuerdo. Algo sucede cuando nosotros nos reunimos en Su nombre. Las cadenas son rotas. Los corazones son derretidos. Las mentes son renovadas. Esta vez fue la ocasión de Navidad pero espero muchas más reuniones.

Había cerca de 20 personas más niños en la casa en el 24. Escuchamos música de Navidad todo el día. Había oración y yo leí la historia del nacimiento de Jesús. Comimos la cena juntos y tuvimos una fogata. Esperamos hasta la medianoche y nos dimos el abrazo para decir "Feliz Navidad". Oró que está celebración mostrara las familias en una manera palpable que:
Podemos estar juntos en armonía
Podemos abandonar nuestros malentendidos, prejuicios, y peleas
Podemos celebrar a Jesús sinceramente y abiertamente sin tradiciones religiosas
Podemos mostrar a nuestros niños que ser un cristiano es algo verdadero y nosotros lo aplicamos en todo lo que somos

Por lo tanto, como escogidos de Dios, santos y amados, revestíos de afecto entrañable y de bondad, humildad, amabilidad y paciencia, de modo que os toleréis unos a otros y os perdonéis si alguno tiene queja contra otro. Jordan Church - update

The more we visit and get involved with this church the more we think, maybe we really don’t need to know. There are so many things wrong.

From tithing, to criticism (there is in any church but this is major), to religions customs that literally block the spirit of worship (I’ve mentioned this before) and of course there is no foundation on the Word.

I can’t speak only the negative; we’ve also felt a hunger for the Lord, hunger for true leadership, hospitality, and a positive outlook to our arrival. These are all crucial parts for a transition to change and correction.

Most of our time in our home town we spend developing relationships, listening to people’s needs/concerns, and praying for God’s Word and Power to flow. He is the only one that can bring life to this church.

Yesterday we met again with the local pastor and his wife. We are helping him organize their annual ‘thanks giving day’. Churches celebrate this once a year. It’s like Homecoming meets Revival meets a Christian Fiesta. They go big! Lots of food, many invites, and a loud playing band, it’s about 4 hours altogether.

Still unsure with how long we are going to be here, we know at some point we will need to leave a strong, healthy, and love-filled church.

Aside from letting you know what we’re doing and what’s going on with the Jordan, this post is also for those that are in prayer with us.

Let your eyes be open to the plea of your servant and to the plea of your people Israel, giving ear to them whenever they call to you. 1 Kings 8:52 ESV

These are the blood-redeemed children of God and He will be faithful in keeping his promises of restoration, freedom, and life! That He May be Glorified!

La Iglesia del Jordán – Actualización

Mientras más visitamos y nos relacionamos con esta iglesia más pensamos, quizá nosotros realmente no debemos saber. Hay tantas cosas mal.

Desde el diezmo, a la crítica (hay en cualquier iglesia pero esto es mayor), a costumbres religiosas que bloquea literalmente el espíritu de adoración (he mencionado esto antes) y por supuesto no hay base en la Palabra.

Yo no puedo hablar sólo el negativo; tienen también un hambre del Señor, hambre por un liderazgo verdadero, hospitalidad, y una vista positiva a nuestra llegada. Todas son partes cruciales para una transición de cambio y corrección.

La mayor parte de nuestro tiempo en el pueblo donde vivimos pasamos cultivando relaciones, escuchando las necesidades/preocupaciones de personas, y orando para que la Palabra de Dios y el Poder fluyan. El es el único que puede traer vida a esta iglesia.

Ayer nos reunimos otra vez con el pastor local y su esposa. Nosotros lo estamos ayudando para organiza su día anual de 'acción de gracias'. Las iglesias celebran esto una vez al año. Está como un aniversario, un avivamiento, y una Fiesta Cristiana en uno. ¡Ellos lo hacen a lo grande! Hay mucha comida, muchos invitados, y una banda que toca bien fuerte, dura cerca de 4 horas.

Todavía inseguros con cuánto tiempo nosotros estaremos aquí, sabemos en algún punto que deberemos dejar una iglesia fuerte, sana y llena de amor.

Aparte de permitirle saber lo que hacemos y lo que pasa con el Jordán, este escrito es también para ésos que están en oración con nosotros.

Estén, pues, atentos tus ojos a la oración de tu siervo y a la plegaria de tu pueblo Israel, para oírlos en todo aquello por lo cual te invoquen, 1 Reyes 8:52

¡Estos son los hijos de Dios redimos con sangre y El será fiel en cumplir su promesa de restauración, de libertad, y de vida! ¡Para que El sea glorificado!

We are finally back. It has been an exciting 4 weeks but we are glad to be home, our new home that is. One reason for our trip to the States was because Wilson needed to go to the doctor’s for a check up. We can gladly report that instead of the 2 prescriptions, now he only has one. Praise God!

We also visited churches and gave a presentation of the work and the projects we have to do. God has been so kind to us and we are thankful for the time we shared with many brothers/sisters in Christ.

Tamala, Hidalgo

We left the house around 5am and arrived in Tamala around 1pm. The drive was smooth but the roads are winding. I didn't get nauseated, this time.

There was a youth conference in the afternoon and a worship service in the evening.

People are hungry for a Word that restores and strengths the faith. I had the opportunity to minister to the youth leader and Wilson spent most of the time with the local pastor. It is so palpable how the Lord uses the experiences we’ve had as pastors to now encourage and give wisdom to His servants here.

This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. 1Ti 3:1 KJV

Huacri, Hidalgo

Despite the weather, people still showed for service at Huacri. This is a mountainous region in Hidalgo. It was cold, windy, and rainy and most people walked to church. Men sat on one side of the building and ladies on the other. It was clear there were more men than ladies that night; it also meant the ladies stayed home with the kids.

People’s hospitality here is endless. The few ladies still managed to prepare us something to eat: tortillas, salsa, boiled eggs, coffee and bread. One lady in particular I remember juggling on one hand the tortillas, a toddler on her skirt, and a baby on a kangaroo-type carrier.

Set Me Free

Chapantongo, Hidalgo
There is small group that meets every 2 weeks in a moderate size bedroom. We promised them we would be back and we did. Our first visit to this 'mission' church was a few months ago.

Since that first visit I remembered a lady I prayed for. After Wilson's teaching he started praying for people. I immediately felt the need to pray for her. She almost refused but the Holy Spirit's kindness pushed her. After a few moments into prayer she fell to the ground, still conscious, but struggling. Holy Spirit was giving me revelation of her needs and the power to call out specific spirits that were taunting her. I know and believe the Lord did a work that day. No doubt!

This second time we visited I noticed she was still not free.

~Teaching on How the Word Changes our Life~

Prison Ministry
Wilson visited a local prison this past weekend for the first time. A local minister has been doing this work for some years. He has been in ministry for 20+ years and so available to the Lord that he wanted for Wilson to go and preach but also observe his system of ministry and possibly provide suggestions or ideas for change. That amazes me.

In their current program they visit once a month and by way of rotation, churches bring food for the prison mates, after the Word they fellowship. Wilson said the majority of the prisoners are very young men who are hungry for some thing real.

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me....to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; Isa 61:1 ESV

We see much need of spiritual deliverance. Like the lady in Chapantongo and even from my own experience, prayer is just the beginning. With freedom and healing comes learning a new way of life and unlearning the lies of the enemy.

I would like to buy a copy of this book: The Bondage Breaker by Neil T. Anderson as a teaching guide for everyone we meet who needs spiritual deliverance. This book, I can say, has made a huge difference in my life and I believe that it can do the same for others. Thankfully it's available in Spanish here and I can order it through a Christian bookstore (about $10 dollars per copy).

I trust Holy Spirit speaks to each of us and pray he will continue to lead us in every word or deed we say or do in His kingdom. Amen. May God bless you friends.

Chapantongo, Hidalgo
Hay un pequeño grupo que se reúne cada 2 semanas en una recámara moderada de tamaño. Nosotros les prometimos que regresaríamos e hicimos. Nuestra primera visita a esta iglesia de "misión" fue un hace pocos meses.

Desde que visitamos la primera vez recordé a una señora que oré por ella. Después de que la enseñanza de Wilson él empezó a orar. Sentí inmediatamente la necesidad de orar por ella. Ella casi se negó pero el Espíritu Santo la empujó. Después de unos pocos momentos en oración ella se cayo al suelo, todavía consciente, pero luchando. El Espíritu Santo me daba revelación de sus necesidades y el poder de llamar los espíritus específicos que la provocaban. Sé y creo que el Señor hizo un trabajo ese día. ¡Sin duda!

En esta segunda visita note que ella todavía no fue libre.

El Ministerio de la Prisión
Wilson visitó una prisión local este fin de semana pasado por primera vez. Un ministro local ha estado haciendo este trabajo durante algún años. El ha estado en el ministerio por más de 20 años y esta tan disponible al Señor que él deseó que Wilson fuera y predicara pero también observar su sistema de ministerio y aportar posiblemente sugerencias o ideas para un cambio. Eso me asombra.

En su programa actual ellos visitan una vez al mes y por manera de rotación, las iglesias traen alimento para los compañeros de la prisión, después de la Palabra hay confraternidad. Wilson dijo que la mayoría de los presos son muy jóvenes que tienen hambre para alguna cosa verdadera.

Vemos mucha necesidad de liberación espiritual. Como la señora en Chapantongo e incluso con mi propia experiencia, la oración puede ser solo el principio. Con libertad y sanidad viene también el aprender un nuevo estilo de vida y desatender las mentiras del enemigo.

Quisiera comprar una copia de este libro: Rompiendo las cadenas/ The Bondage Breaker (Spanish Edition)por Neil T. Anderson como una guía de estudios para todos los que encontramos quién necesita la liberación espiritual. Este libro, puedo decir, ha hecho una diferencia inmensa en mi vida y yo creo que puedo hacer el mismo para otros. The Waiting Period

Today is the first day of new living in Mexico. We’re on our own! Wow. I’m excited and nervous at the same time.

Our previous living arrangements were with a family in a two-story house. We had a bedroom and occupied another room with our stuff (camping gear, tools, etc.). We helped weekly with the grocery bill and another bill once a month. It was a pretty good understanding we thought.

A few weeks ago we started noticing a few things that were just not right. Something, that we could just not pin point it, it was holding us back. What to do? We turned to the one who leads us to green pastures, our Heavenly Father. We waited, asked godly counsel, and waited.

You know when you get a new insurance policy or when you start a new job, there is a waiting period. Thirty or maybe ninety days when the benefits ‘activate’! In my own little way, this felt like that waiting period. It’s been 4 months since we moved down here. I'm glad we lived with that family for the first months. I can't imagine how much harder it would of all been trying to adapt to a new culture, laws, health system, the list goes on!

I know things will be different from now on. Trials and obstacles will still come, silly not to expect them, but to stand exactly in the bull’s-eye where God wants you IS ALL worth it! Praise God! My heart fills with joy!

Today we live in a BIG house; a little too big for me, but it we will need every bit of it when we have a mission’s team come here. We don’t have a lot of furniture; actually we’re using our folding chairs right now (haha), and only the most basic kitchen utensils. Wilson’s handyman expertise has been a huge help, thank the Lord for all the gifts he has given him! I’m so proud of him! He can preach, teach, fix a sink, setup the DVD player, hook up a car with a stereo system, give a tune-up to a car, cook a fancy meal, look good doing it all and making me feel like the most blessed wife in Mexico! Lol. It’s a tough job I tell ya!

I’ve even started a vegetable garden (those of you who know me know I’m not a gardener! haha). In about 3 months I will have green bell peppers (expensive here since most people use the hot ones), tomatoes, cucumbers, and squash. I already have a lime tree (thank you Jesus!) and a guava tree. Green pastures!

So, we now wait for you :-) . We’re excited to have missions teams come here. A few churches have already contacted us to arrange this. We’re glad to work with your church's mission team! Mexico 4 Jesus!

The Jordan - local church in Tlaco

Most of the videos, pictures and testimonies you’ve seen here in the blog are from visits to a region church or trips to mountain areas where the gospel is still new. This work is done through a partnership with a local denomination and their committee. This denomination also has a local church in the town we live, Tlacotlapilco, the church’s name is “The Jordan”.

A little of the history of The Jordan-
This church was founded by a man more than 30 years ago. The founder and pastor went to be with the Lord last year. One of his daughters is a member of the church we then were pastors in South Carolina. She traveled immediately to be with her family but didn’t travel with her daughters. Wilson, as a favor, served as an escort and brought her daughters down. The Lord used Wilson to minister to the families and flock left behind.

The church has a new pastor whom the founder recommended before passing. However, the church’s condition now is heartbreaking. More than 30 years of ministry in this town and today the service attendance was 11. There are no branch ministries (children, youth, ladies, men’s) to support the work. Biblical sound doctrine is practically nonexistent. Worship services have a deep religious influence (songs are sung without passion, there is no real hunger for God’s presence).

Even though the pastor and parishioners know Wilson since his first trip, we still have to gain their trust and confidence as people. So until recently we’ve played the quite role, visiting their services and teaching once in a while as ‘guest speakers’. Today the pastor spoke to us and agreed Wilson would teach every week. This is a phenomenal opportunity we have been waiting and praying for!

Therefore go and teach all nations…teaching them to observe all things, whatever I commanded you. Mat 28:19-20 MKJV

Our great commandment as church does not only involve preaching the gospel but teaching people how to live it. This requires love and patience, time and energy, scarifies and persistence.

I know here there are people hurt, families broken, children growing up without a relationship with Jesus, and Christians who are so religious they can’t see beyond their circle. I also know a Healer, Restorer, Savior, and a Bondage Breaker! God is up to something amazing in this town. He will restore and transform the hearts and minds of every person who believes without respect of age, gender, language or religious background! In Jesus’ name!

This visit was a marker for the brothers and sisters of Veracruz.

It was their first baptism service!

We had to walk about an hour down the mountain to the river. It was very steep and slippery but I finally made it after a few slips of my own. It was worth to see the river and to be in between 2 huge mountains. I felt so proud! Then I saw a 8 month pregnant lady and a 70 something elderly woman come down. I laughed and was once again amazed at the endurance these people have. Shame on me! (Lol)

Someone asked why I wasn't on the videos, unfortunately I'm the only camera man on this team :(

My First Mexican Independence Day

“To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews…”1Co 9:20 ESV

This verse became more real and true to me tonight as I experienced my first Independence Day in Mexico. I attended a service with a program that included “A Great Mexican Night”. During this program the pastor called for prayer for the nation confessing sins, asking mercy and rebuking spirits. It was then that I actually realized, “I am a Mexican now, do so as the Mexicans”, I remembered Paul and his ministry.

I feel as I need to become one with the people, if I must intercede surely my heart must feel their pain and need of deliverance. My thoughts naturally compared my life in the States; it’s difficult to take notice of these things when you feel at home. Sins don’t ‘look’ like sins anymore and spirits become familiar.

"…Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you. Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is." Eph 5:14:17 ESV

Let’s get in touch with God! We ALL have a part in his kingdom! I spent many years with zeal to serve the Lord but feeling out of place. Consider the scripture “…make the best of your time…” and “…understand what the will of the Lord is…” personally that His name may be glorified!

Veracruz 03

Our last visit to Veracruz was short but victorious. We prayed over the place where services will be held, it's actually a semi-built house we will be borrowing because the owner, a brother in the Lord, was touched by God to offer it. It's a great opportunity for us because the people in the village get to know us before we buy any land for a worship house.

I feel I have to apologize because it has taken me a while to post this. A few reasons, I traveled back home for a couple of weeks, and when I finally got back the video wouldn't upload to youtube. That is where I store them and then just embed here. I like to think I'm savvy but honestly sometimes I just guess things out on how they work. I'm trying right now as I type to upload once again. My internet connection is super slow, takes up to 5 hours, but I've done it before so I don't think that's the problem.

V. Carranza, Puebla

We visited V. Carranza in the state of Puebla this weekend.
Church service was powerful!
There were several healings, including a man who couldn't walk, a man with one eye blind, and a little girl with fever.

Recent Trips with the Committee

We have been blessed to meet Sister Irma. She is the legal representative, and a lawyer by profession, of a local church denomination. She introduced us to "The Committee", a group of leaders who visit sister churches around the region. It's a wonderful partnership so far. They know the people and the places, we get an opportunity to minister where there is need.

Since we came back from the States we've visited 3 places.

Zimapan, Hidalgo - There was a pastor established in a mission church.
Chapantongo, Hidalgo - Visited a home service, no pastor established yet. This group is fruit of the labor done by a nearby pastor who does prison ministry. A lady was delivered from generational curses and a few testified the power of God in their life.
The third place I will share in a separate post (more pics and video).

It's not always easy to take pictures or video. My smaller camera is nonfunctional, plus people can feel intimidated when they see my bigger Cannon. Sometimes I'm ministering myself and there isn't anyone to take a picture :-( I share as much as I can though.

We are really taking an effort to build a strong relationship with the denomination and it's leaders and churches. There are many things that NEED a change. I believe we can teach them many principles including integrity, authority/submission, and a leadership style without religion or legalism.

So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." John 8:31-32

Tidbits of Life in Mexico

I feel weak physically compared to other women here. They carry so much on their backs and even around their heads. I can barely pull up my wet sheets from the washer to extract them.

When I walk, I now have to remember to watch my step because there may be chicken or other animal waste.

The fair is coming this weekend. I'm so excited to see the culture come alive. There is one small detail. I can't go with the girls who live here. You see, Christians and Non-Christians (Catholics) are so separated in the community that a community fair can become a religious discord. Town families are all asked to cooperate with the expenses of the fair. Christians refuse because the money goes toward a festivity that ultimately is done by the Catholic church. Therefore, even if they wanted to enjoy the food, rides, and entertainment, they feel it’s not their place because they didn’t give money and because they want to make a statement out of it. We also want to make a statement here and that’s why I’m making plans to go. Hopefully it will show Christians especially that we are not here to draw lines but to show God’s love to everyone, regardless of how they feel towards us.

I’m so annoyed by bugs. Ugh! They are everywhere and frankly sometimes I have to let go of my germ phobia.

Yes! Prayer! I’m doing so many things more prayerfully here, like the food we prepare, the showers I’m grateful to have without worrying the water will run out, the hands I shake believing God will keep us healthy.

This town can seem so quite and serene, it can be deceiving. Don’t get me wrong I like the calmness. The problem is that there is still a war to be fought. Last week was a brutal wake up call. We’ve had 3 people sick including Wilson, 2 ‘small’ accidents that required medical attention, and misunderstandings. I spent a whole day just grieving and battling the enemy with his lies. You don’t think anything of it until you battle it out, the enemy is a liar.

Being prepared is essential. We are like doctors on call duty. We may be called at any time for anything. My job is to be emotionally, physically, mentally, and obviously spiritually prepared. I may not always know what to do but my spirit must be willing, my soul calm, and my mind charged. People are hungry and God will use me as he wishes.

I spend my down time listening to worship CD’s, reading the Word or maybe a counseling book, writing bible studies, journaling and of course online keeping in touch with friends.

It’s been difficult mentally. My life in the States was so fast and on the go. I was used to multitasking at my job, go home cook and eat, sometimes washed my teeth so fast I was still chewing my dinner so we could go to church or small group meeting. It’s good to know I’m supposed to be here. My mind may play games with me sometimes but my heart and spirit know God is in control. Gloria a Dios!

Life in Mexico

Thanks to Juan and Maria's girls, we've had lots of fun this week.

This is a pic from San Pablo. It's a very small town with a beautiful pure river. The water was clear and lukewarm. This wasn't a park. We had to bring our own food because the nearest place that sold food was about an hour away. A day to enjoy God's creation.

Today, I ate barbacoa. It's tender lamb cooked in a pit oven for hours in it's own juices. Absolutely delicious, I just hope it's not too fattening. People around here don't count calories much. Lol.

Hello friends!

It’s been a while since the last post. We had to travel back to the States due to an emergency. We are fine we just had to take care of some business.

The important thing is that we are back where we are supposed to be. I believe it was a trick of the enemy to discourage us and steal our joy and focus. However, God’s promises are true when it says, “That's why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked INTO something good.” (Rom 8:28 MSG) It may not always start right, but in the end we are the winners. Thanks to this trip, Wilson was able to get a 5 month supply of 1 of his medicines; we also had a valuable discussion with our pastor back home regarding upcoming projects and overall improvements. I visited and worshipped with dear brothers and sisters in Christ too. That is always an encouragement and a blessing. I just don’t understand how people don’t ‘want’ to go to church sometimes and say ‘you don’t to go to church and worship God, I can do it at home’, how little do they understand the blessing of belonging to the body of Christ.

We are going to Veracruz this weekend. I still remembered Pastor’s words during his sermon that last Sunday we were there. He said we would see many needs that we would NOT be able to help. That word stuck with me. I remind myself that this is His work, not mine. He is our Sheppard and will lead us to green pastures.

His Word keeps me firm and ready for what’s to come:

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. Eph 6:10-11 ESV

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. 2Ti 3:16 -17 ESV

Ha sido un rato desde el último poste. Tuvimos que viajar a los Estados debido a una emergencia. Estamos bien solo que teníamos que atender un negocio.

Lo importante es que regresamos donde estamos supuestos estar. Creo que fue un truco del enemigo para desalentarnos y robar nuestra alegría y el enfocque. Sin embargo, las promesas de Dios son verdad cuando dice, "Y sabemos que para los que aman a Dios, todas las cosas cooperan para bien, esto es, para los que son llamados conforme a Su propósito (Rom 8:28 NBLH) No siempre puede comenzar el como uno quiere, pero al fin nosotros somos los ganadores. Gracias a este viaje, Wilson pudo conseguir un suministro de 5 meses de una de sus medicinas; nosotros también tuvimos una discusión valiosa con nuestro pastor en casa con respecto a proyectos próximos y mejoras generales. También visité y adore con estimados hermanos y hermanas en Cristo. Eso es siempre un ánimo y una bendición. Yo no comprendo cómo personas no "desean" ir a la iglesia a veces dicen 'no tienes que ir a la iglesia para dar culto a Dios, yo lo puedo hacer en casa', cuán poco ellos comprenden la bendición de la pertenencia al cuerpo de Cristo.

Vamos a Veracruz este fin de semana. Yo todavía recordé las palabras de Pastor durante su sermón que el domingo pasado que nosotros estuvimos allí. El dijo que veríamos muchas necesidades que nosotros no podríamos ayudar. Esa palabra atascó conmigo. Yo me recuerdo que esto es Su trabajo, no mío. El es nuestro Pastor y nos dirigirá a pastos verdes.

Su Palabra nos mantiene firme y nos prepara para lo que a debe venir:

Por lo demás, fortalézcanse en el Señor y en el poder de su fuerza. Revístanse con toda la armadura de Dios para que puedan estar firmes contra las insidias del diablo. Efesios 6:10-11 NBLH

Meet Francisca

I met Francisca for the first time on our trip to Veracruz. She is the oldest in a family of 9. I asked her the usual questions, trying to get to know her. When I asked, are you in school, her eyes went down with sadness and disillusion.

Her story touched me so, I have to post about it here, hoping and in faith that the Lord will answer her prayer.

She is 18 and was in her '3rd semester' of high school. What we can understand as 11th grade. Her family lives in the mountains, her father had supported her by paying a room and food while she stayed in the closest town with a high school, Zacualpa, about 2 1/2 hours away.

Her family can't afford to pay for this anymore. $70/month pays for her to share a room and food. Francisca wants to go work at the closest big city, Tulancingo, 4 hours away. This broke my heart. She WANTS to go to school and would be the first in the community to be a high school graduate. The dreams I see for her. She could help with her brothers/sisters and their education. With 1 semester away, will she finish?

Life in Mexico

Hola amigos!

I just want to take a moment and journal what's life like here in Mexico.

Everyday chores usually take a lot longer to do here. Laundry, for example is a few hours versus 1 to 1 1/2 it took in the US. Cooking is a whole lot different. Libe, the lady of the house, takes the responsibility of cooking, cleaning, laundry, and other labor tasks. However, since I came, I have been helping her with at least cooking and some cleaning. She is thrilled to see me cook in a different way :) I don't have everything I need when cooking, but I'm learning to be creative. That is a definite requisite to living here.

Spiritually speaking, we are on our own. There isn't a church where I can go and worship freely and fellowship. Every church we have visited have requested us to preach/teach. It's weird actually. I feel a freedom of not having a 'church responsibility' but at the same time it was good to have an appointment every Sunday with the Lord. I don't know if this makes sense. :) It's been fun to seek God on my own basis. I can't really explain. It's just me, a worship CD/playlist, the Word and my prayer shawl (thanks Pastor Tom), seeking the Almighty God of Wonders. Praise his name.

This has been on my heart lately:

"You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth." John 4:22-24 (TNIV)

I've noticed this, Jesus says "You Samaritans worship what you do not know...we worship what we do know" - and I ask- "Lord, what do I know? The more I know you, the more I know who I worship, the more worship means to me." I know him more in worship and the truth reveals who He is to me. Thank you Father for being a personal God to me, I can say with confidence "You are my God and I worship YOU."

Great Progress in 2 Weeks

Tomorrow will mark 2 weeks since our arrival here. I’m glad I’ve been able to adapt well so far. The family where we are staying is very kind. I get along well with the lady of the household and I help her with chores around the house. Her daughters are really nice as well. They all have been patient mostly with me and my many differences.

It has been a little hectic this week because we have had periods without electricity and water. It’s also been a time for me to get to know people around town. Nevertheless, I have already befriended a neighbor. She is an 18 year old girl who studies and works in the weekends. She has had problems with her parents in the past because she went to the evangelical church versus the catholic. She sneaks off whenever she can with which ever excuse so she can come over, her parents know I and the family where I’m staying at are Christians and don’t like for her to be here for long periods of time. We go walking around the town and have talks about Jesus and what it means to have a relationship with the Creator. I gave her 2 books this week to read; a small beginner’s booklet on what it means to be saved and The Purpose Driven Life. She stayed at her grandma’s until late one night so she could sneak in with the books. This is a great start to mentoring!

Intercession time has been crucial and so beneficial in more ways than one. I recruited one of the girls who live here to spend some time with me during intercession. She is a very motivated Christian but is hungry for true leadership. This time was a great way to show her how to battle the spiritual and how to pray the Word of God, bringing heaven to earth, making a difference in the things we don’t see. She is almost 22 yrs old, studying to be an elementary school teacher. How powerful to know her work and her prayers WILL change children and their generations!

…that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children, so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments;… - Psalm 78:6 -7

We will be leaving to the mountains tomorrow morning at 4am. This is to Tlacochachilco, Veracruz. We will stay there for 3 days. Today is my down day trying to be well rested and well organized for the trip. Wilson left early today to the capital, DF, to find his prescriptions. I pray they are at a reasonable price…No, Lord please let it be cheap!! His blood pressure meds are already twice as much as it was in the US. Now he needs his hormone replacement, he has been doing so well ever since he started treatment again. Well, I leave it in His hands, he takes care of the impossible, of the things I have no control over.

Gran Progreso en 2 Semanas

Marcará mañana 2 semanas desde nuestra llegada aquí. Estoy contenta que he podido adaptar bien hasta ahora. La familia donde permanecemos es muy amable. Yo me llevo bien con la señora de la casa y yo la ayudo con tareas alrededor de la casa. Sus hijas son realmente agradables también. Todos han tenido paciencia en su mayor parte conmigo y mis muchas diferencias.

Ha sido un poco agitada esta semana porque hemos tenido los períodos sin electricidad y agua. También ha sido un tiempo para mí de conocer personas alrededor del pueblo. No obstante, yo ya me he hecho amiga de una vecina. Ella tiene 18 años de edad que estudia y trabaja en los fines de semana. Ella ha tenido problemas con sus padres en el pasado porque ella fue a la iglesia evangélica en ves de la católica. Ella se viene a escondida siempre que ella pueda, sus padres conocen que yo y la familia donde permanezco somos cristianos y no quieren para ella estar aquí por espacios de tiempo largos. Caminamos alrededor del pueblo y tenemos platicas de Jesus y de lo que significa tener una relación con el Creador. Yo le di 2 libros esta semana para leer; un folleto pequeño para principiante en lo que significa ser salvo y Una Vida Con Propósito. Ella se quedo donde su abuelita hasta muy noche para entrar a escondidas con los libros. ¡Esto es un gran comienzo al de enseñanza !

El tiempo de la intercesión ha sido crucial y tan beneficioso en muchos sentidos. Reclute a una de las chicas que viven aquí para estar un tiempo conmigo durante intercesión. Ella es una cristiana muy motivada pero con hambre para un liderazgo verdadero. Fue una gran manera de mostrarla cómo combatir lo espiritual y cómo orar la Palabra de Dios, trayendo el cielo a la tierra, haciendo una diferencia en las cosas que nosotros no vemos. Ella es de casi 22 años, estudiando para ser un maestro de escuela primaria. ¡Cuán poderoso saber que su trabajo y sus oraciones cambiarán a los niños y sus generaciones!

Para que la generación venidera lo supiera, aun los hijos que habían de nacer, Y éstos se levantaran y lo contaran a sus hijos, Para que ellos pusieran su confianza en Dios, Y no se olvidaran de las obras de Dios Sino que guardaran Sus mandamientos; Salmo 78:6 -7

Estaremos saliendo a las montañas mañana por la mañana a las 4am. Esto está en Tlacochachilco, Veracruz. Permaneceremos allí durante 3 días. Hoy es mi dia de trabajo libiano para estar descansada para estar bien organizada para el viaje. Wilson se fue temprano hoy a la capital, DF, para encontrar su receta medica. ¡Oro que esten en un precio razonable…no, Señor permite por favor que lo este barato!! Sus medicaciones de la tensión son ya dos veces tanto como estuvo en EEUU. Ahora él necesita su reemplazo de hormona, él ha estado muy bien desde que comenzó tratamiento otra vez. Bien, yo lo dejo en las manos de Dios, él cuida de lo imposible, de las cosas que yo no puedo controlar.

A Visit to Santos' House

I met Santos on my trip here in December. He accompanied us to the mountains, Tlachi. He is not married, but as custom here, chose a ‘wife’ and is waiting to get enough money for the wedding. The two along with their baby boy were thrown out of their home multiple times because his father did not agree on Santos’ decision to follow Christ. He requested our visit last night ‘so our words convince his father’. Although his father did not attend prayer service we were next door to his room, we believe the Word was planted in faith.

Romans 10:17
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

Santos agreed to have prayer service every week rotating one week at his house and another at a friend’s house.

Conocí a Santos en mi viaje aquí en diciembre. El nos acompañó a las montañas, Tlachi. El no es casado, pero como costumbre aquí, escogió a una mujer y espera para conseguir suficiente dinero para la boda. Ellos dos junto con su nene fueron echados de su casa muchas veces porque su padre no esta de acuerdo en la decisión de Santos de seguir a Cristo. El solicitó nuestra visita anoche 'esperando que nuestras palabras convencen a su padre'. Aunque su padre no asistió al servicio de oración estábamos al lado de su cuarto, nosotros creemos que la Palabra fue plantada en la fe.

Santos concordó en tener servicio de oración cada semana que gira una semana en su casa y otro en la casa de un amigo.

It’s really another ballgame here

My fourth day in Tlacotlapilco. Our trip and arrival here was a wonderful expression of God’s protection and blessing over us:

We’ve had no car trouble
Our trip money stretched
The Customs patrol did not check our luggage or asked for a ‘bite’ (mordida- is a term used by police/military officials requesting money instead of giving you a fine)

We stayed in Houston for a day and a half to visit mi mama. She was so happy for our visit; she cooked and even did some laundry for us! She took us to her friend’s house to visit; to make it short, let’s just say it was a God-appointment, a moment to share his love and truth. We also visited with Ms. Paula, what a joy! I’m so thankful for the time God allowed.

The Garcia family has been so kind to us here. They prepared a room upstairs with a bed, a small dresser and have also prepared meals for us.

We were invited to a youth service last night. The Word was prophetic and the presence of the Lord confirmed it. I understood during service that I need to get in touch spiritually with what’s going on in this country. It’s really another ballgame here. Intercession time will be fundamental.

Sunday we visited the Tlaco church. This is really where it all began. Wilson visited this church when their pastor passed away, who was also the father of a member from CRC (Hispanic Ministry in US). There is a tremendous need for discipleship and a biblical foundation here. I was given the privilege of imparting the Word during morning service. This wasn’t planned and I didn’t prepare with notes but I had done some studying during the trip and God did the rest. Sometimes we need to be sensitive with the Spirit and trust he will use us as he pleases with no perceptions of our own.

Monday is marketplace day (la plaza). I have to learn to buy and calculate with the metric system. I also have to learn the Spanish names for certain vegetables and fruits that are from here, and shop for internet service (praying there is an option for residence service). The town we live in is very small; everything is through satellite. In the meantime, I’m online only for the necessary at an internet café.

Permanecimos en Houston por un día y una mitad para visitar a mamá. ¡Ella fue tan feliz para por la visita; ella cocinó e incluso lavo alguna ropa sucia por nosotros! Ella llevo a casa de su amiga para visitar; para hacerlo corto, permita quenos acabemos de decir que fue una cita de Dios, un momento de compartir su amor y la verdad. ¡Nosotros también visitamos con Sra. Paula, lo que fue una alegría! Estoy tan agradecida para el tiempo Dios permitió.

La familia Garcia ha sido tan amable a nosotros aquí. Ellos prepararon un cuarto arriba con una cama, un pequeño tocador y también han preparado comidas para nosotros.

Fuimos invitados a un servicio de jóvenes el sabado. La Palabra fue profética y la presencia del Señor confirmó. Comprendí durante el servicio que necesito estar en enfoque espiritualmente con lo que pasa en este país. Es realmente otro partido aquí. El tiempo de la intercesión será fundamental.

El domingo nosotros visitamos la iglesia de Tlaco. Esto es realmente donde todo empezó. Wilson visitó esta iglesia cuando su pastor se murió, que fue también el padre de un miembro de CRC (el Ministerio hispano en EEUU). Hay una necesidad tremenda para el discipulado y una base bíblica aquí. Fui dada el privilegio de impartir la Palabra durante servicio. Esto no fue planeado y yo no preparé con notas pero había hecho algún estudo durante el viaje y Dios hizo los demás. A veces nosotros necesitamos ser sensible con el Espíritu y fiarse de él nos utilizará como él complace con ningunas percepciones propias.

El lunes es día de mercado (plaza). Tengo que aprender a comprar y calcular con el sistema métrico. Yo también tengo que aprender los nombres en español para ciertas verduras y frutas que son de aquí, y buscar servicio de internet (orar que haya una opción para el servicio de residencial). El pueblo que vivimos en es muy pequeño; todo está por satélite. Mientras tanto, estoy en línea sólo para el necesario en un cibercafé.

Hola and welcome to the Planting of the Lord, the place to visit for updates, testimonies, videos/pictures, stories, culture, and an all-access pass to the ministry of Wilson and Diana Gomez in Hidalgo and Veracruz, Mexico.

Let me start by answering the first question people ask me, “When are you moving?” We have been preparing for months, praying and asking God for guidance on many important details and decisions; that is why I’m so hesitant to give a definite answer; we want to be obedient to His timing. I can say May 18th. Next, I would like to explain our mission work in Mexico.

There 2 locations where we will serve. First, Tlacotlapilco, in the state of Hidalgo, this is also the place where we will be staying. Tlaco, as we like to call it for short, is a valley, surround by many more small towns (approximately a few hundred residents). We have formed relationships with local pastors and community leaders to establish biblical teachings. We see a great need for discipleship and religion-free relationship with God the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit. I’m excited about this part of ministry because I can let the teacher side of me loose! :) It’s also a great opportunity to testify how God has freed me from religion even in the church.

Now onto Tlachichilco (Tlachi- for short) in the state of Veracruz; this place is the closest on the map to where we will travel. It’s within a 2 hour ride to the house we will visit. All together from Tlaco to the families we will minister is 7 hours away, 6 by car, 1 hour by donkey (if I’m lucky) or walking (if I’m not :p). (See Map)

Let me explain the situation with Tlachi. The natives do not allow for anyone to live there other than those born or married to those born there. Our key contact to this place is a brother in Christ who now lives in Tlaco (where we’re staying). Our trips to Tlachi will be every 10 days or so. We will stay at the brother’s mother’s house. We are welcomed there. We will stay there for a few days to minister and have service. This is also the place Wilson visited while on the mission trip (August 2008) and 42 souls were saved. There is practically no electricity here except one light bulb outside the house. The women cook by fire, the fire also provides light when cooking if it’s night. Water is brought from a well, boiled, and stored in about 5 gallon plastic tubs. The closest ‘grocery store’ is a 2 hour ride on a rocky road. I will miss Walgreens.

Those who know me personally know I am Americanized. I can’t deny. However, this city girl serves a powerful life-changing God. I know this – I don’t ever, ever, want to be out of God’s perfect will and not follow his plan for my life. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jer. 29:11. If you believe this, believe also “for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control” 2Ti 1:7. I am certain I WILL be challenged and tested in Mexico. Expect posts about that too;) . I will trust in God because serving him is a daily walk not a destination.

The town where we live does not have a mailing system. There are other services available (DHL,FedEx, UPS etc) but the prices are so high we don't encourage sending packages.

About Us

We are missionaries in Mexico. We sensed the call of God to move full-time to Mexico in December 2008.
Since the beginning of our walk in Christ we both knew ministry was our life commitment. We lived in New York and after a year married we moved to South Carolina to what soon was going to be our ministry home.
We are far from perfect, but we strive to serve the Lord with all our hearts and life! We have put God first and He has greatly blessed us. We have planted 2 churches in South Carolina and helped establish another.

Wilson –

I asked God for the spirit of Paul, passionate about serving His church and teaching sound doctrine. The Lord fulfilled my desire with an apostolic calling (Ephesians 4). With the guidance of the Word, Holy Spirit, and godly mentors the Lord has equipped me to serve as headship to pastors and local church leadership.

Diana –
Out of need and desperation comes a heart of intercession. Birthing 2 church plants with my husband served as a breakthrough to experience healing, freedom, and restoration. My life’s desire is to teach the Word of God, transforming us to his image with a grace-filled, religion-free, relationship with Christ.
We are both members of COGOP. We follow the authorities God has put over us, our home church is SFWC. For info on what we believe click on our Statement of Faith page.

About Our Ministry

There different facets to our ministry in Mexico. We serve locally, the regional area, and beyond.

Local
Tlacotlapilco, is a very small town in the state of Hidalgo, this is also the place where we live. Tlaco, as it's called for short, is part of a big valley surrounded by many more towns with thousands in population. The native language is HÑAHJÑU, also called OTOMÍ, which is spoken largely by the older generation. We have formed relationships with regional pastors and community leaders. We are establishing biblical teachings through weekly bible study and we are also training a new pastor.

Regional

The Lord has opened an opportunity for us to work with a ‘religious association’, as they are called here, named Sinai. Their committee makes trips to area churches as an encouragement and to also handle church affairs. These trips could be as short as an hour away or as far as 7 hours. Some have been altogether 24 hours. We go with them to preach, give conferences to youth and church leadership, and also network with their pastors.
This is how we are developing a Pastor’s Training Center. We are very excited about it since we will be impacting the lives and ministry of 40 + pastors and leaders (for more info check our Special Projects page).

Beyond
Tlachichilco (Tlachi- for short) is in the state of Veracruz. From Tlaco (where we live) to the families we minister is 7 hours away, 6 by car, 1 hour by donkey or walking if one is not available. Our trips to Tlachi are for 3 days. There is no electricity and no drinking water. There is 1 light bulb outside the house used with solar energy. The women cook by fire; water is brought from a fountain and boiled. In this community is where we will build a public school (for more info check our Special Projects page).
We give no boundaries to the Lord, we will go wherever he calls us and takes us.

Public School in the Rural Mountains of Veracruz (Municipal of Tlachichilco, Community of “El Mirador”)
Pastor’s Training Center in Tamala, Hidalgo Mountains

Church Mission Statement

Our mission is to tell of Jesus Christ and His truth, and to spread the gospel of His Kingdom, so that the rule of God is brought about in the hearts of people. All we say and do serves the purpose of reaching out to the lost through Jesus Christ.

Our Covenant Relationship

We have joined ourselves together in Christ as a fellowship of believers by covenanting to accept the Bible as the Word of God, promising to believe and practice its teachings rightly divided with the New Testament as our rule of faith and practice, government and discipline, and agreeing to walk in the light to the best of our knowledge and ability.

Statement of Faith

We believe in the Bible as the inspired, infallible and authoritative Word of God. Its truths are known by the illuminative revelation of the Holy Spirit. (2 Timothy 3:16)
We believe there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit.

We believe God is the absolute and sole Creator and Ruler of the universe, and creation was by His divine plan. (Genesis 1:1)
We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ as the Son of God, co-equal with the Father. We believe in His virgin birth and sinless life, in the miracles He performed, in His atoning death on the cross and His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory at His second coming.
